After a ten-year gap interest in the Mini Marcos was strong enough for Marcos Heritage to re-launch the car as the Heritage MK VI in component form together with a competition / track day car - the MK VI GT, which is available to this day. The Mini Marcos name was dropped due to bullyboy tactics from BMW over the use of the name Mini.

Introduced in 1997, the Mantis GT is a higher performance version of the Mantis. The name Mantis is taken from the mantis insect and is intended to signify the performance of the Mantis' engine, a supercharged 4.6 litre V8, producing 506 hp (377 kW), and 452 lb⋅ft (613 N⋅m) of torque.

The Marcos Mantis GTO was a special version of the Marcos Mantis developed specifically to compete in top level GT racing in the late 1990s. Marcos isn't particularly well known outside of the United Kingdom, for the uninitiated Marcos was founded in 1959 by Jem Marsh and Frank Costin.

They weren't holding back. Really though, this 1998 Mantis with its naturally-aspirated 4.6-litre Ford V8 is more than enough. It packs a mightily impressive 327bhp, all of which is delivered to the massive rear wheels via a Tremec 5-speed manual transmission. It's a brute of a car, even without the GT's supercharger.

Marcos used Ford V8 engines for later models. The Mantis M70 could reach the top speed of around 125 miles per hour, and accelerate from 0 to 60 miles.

Marcos GT Originally used as a catch-all term for all of Marcos' cars until the introduction of the Mantis, the GT was available with a seemingly never-ending list of powertrains throughout its initial production run. The model was later revived as a kit car in the 1980s with newer engine options such as Ford's then-newest V6s and even a Rover V8.
